Callander Hostel

12 Jan 2018 - 14 Jan 2018

The first meet of 2018 was at the Callander Hostel and was well attended with 14 members.

On Saturday the group spread out and covered a variety of walks. Snow (iced up paths) was lying to fairly low levels with poor visability and snow falling later in the afternoon, turning to rain at the cars.

Davie, Alan and guests Sarah and Jane headed for a low level walk through Glen Ample from north to south and ended the day having tea and scones in the Roman Camp Hotel. The rest took to the hills with Scott heading off solo for Beinn Chabhair from Inverlochlarig. Philip climbed Beinn Each and continued on to Stuc a'Chroin, returning safe despite losing his map on the way. Neil and Sandra tackled Ben A'an on the recently rebuilt path. Lawrie, Lindsay, Jim and Janet headed for Ben Vorlich, a new tick for Jim and Lindsay. Katie and Jon joined the group on Saturday evening after a run round Loch Venachar and later headed back to Katie's Mum's for a home cooked dinner.

On Sunday Neil and Sandra headed for home. Scott took a run to the Fairy Hall before heading off and Philip went for a circular walk to the Bracklinn Falls. Alan, Davie, Lawrie, Lindsay, Sarah, Jim and Janet walked up Stank Glen and turned back near the top when the weather started to worsen. Jim headed off home and the rest went for a walk to Bracklinn Falls leaving Janet to have a kip in the car.
A wee reminder that the next meet is the AGM 2nd - 4th February
