Laggan Meet - AGM

11 Jan 2019 - 12 Jan 2019

We had 20 members attending the first meet of 2019 - a good turn out. The venue was Laggan Village hall.

The forecast for the weekend wasn’t encouraging and Saturday dawned as a very windy day with a fair bit of rain. Undeterred, we had a range of ambitious plans.
Vania, Alan, Davie, Sue & Colin headed up the Corrieyairack pass from Melgarve then on to Corrieyairack Hill and Gairbeinn. The decision to do the route clockwise proved wise with a tailwind for the bit over the tops. Jojo hitched a lift to Melgarve and headed back over the tops to the South.
Katie & Jon met up with Dau & Gintas for some Munro bagging from Drumochter. Jim Whitehead & Jim Plaice went further west for their Munro of Beinn Teallach. Peaks were bagged but nobody enjoyed much of a view! Lawrie & Janet had planned Carn Dearg but modified plans to head to Eilich Bothy & Loch Dubh. Phil went up Carn an Fhreiceadain from Kingussie. Paul & Jane drove up from Edinburgh and walked up to the monument above Laggan Bridge on the way.. So, a range of activities but we were a fairly wet bunch on returning to the hall.

Saturday evening saw the Club AGM taking place with Alan, Colin, Scott and Kenny coming up for the evening.

Enthusiasm levels were somewhat lower on Sunday with some heading home but the more dedicated still got out. Alan, Janet, Lawrie and Vania walked from the car park at Moy and took the forestry track towards Corrour on a circuit to the southwest round Meall Luidh Mor. Some decent views north to the Creag Meagaidh hills and the snow showers sweeping in covering the tops. Kenny headed further South for an enjoyable circuit of Loch Errochty. On a less active but more social theme, a number stopped off to visit John & Catriona in Bankfoot.
