15 CDMC-ers gathered in Roybridge this weekend. The weather on Saturday was pretty grim (incessant rain and high winds) so Alan, Janet, Laurie, Scott, Wendy, Josee and Jude battled their way to a bothy. Shaun, Katie, Dau, Gintas and Lucy attempted to run to the same bothy but had to beat a retreat, finding the wind too strong to run into. Nonetheless we had a good time getting thoroughly muddy and wading along flooded tracks. Colin headed to Aviemore and Neil and Sandra to Steall. The lack of hill bagging meant everyone had plenty of energy left for playing board games in the evening. We were also entertained by the other guests at the hut: some students who played strip poker before progressing to the sauna (the bunkhouse is very well equipped). On Sunday the weather was much improved so Alan, Janet and Laurie headed up Carn Dearg and Dau, Gintas, Lucy and Katie headed up Stob a’ Choire Mheadhoin and Stob Coire Easain. This was a great day with a few squalls, but plenty of rainbows and two cloud free munros. Despite the thaw on Saturday there was still plenty of snow and ice underfoot and we enjoyed a couple of hundred metres of bum sliding on the descent.
